Bill Gates' Rules

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school .He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created ageneration of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept setthem up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect youto accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't bea vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a differentword for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes andlistening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So beforeyou save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HASNOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'llgive you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. Thisdoesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and veryfew employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that onyour own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one!

Masti Ki Paathsaala

Paathshala or school now-a-days is not really the fun place anyone wants to go... A 15 Kg bag & Homework & tests & exams & tutions... GOD ITS BORING!!!

We do learn about various things at schools & colleges and this information also comes in handy when we are answering KBC questions. But lets get realistic... we are in billions & only few get a chance to go on to KBC!

There is a saying "I was born intelligent but education ruined me!"

Obviously... if you dont have time for interaction and play and fun... Jack will be a dull boy & Jill will be a dull girl!

When it comes to 5th September we conveniently forget the few important teachers and wish only a select few! It is good to remember the teacher who taught you history and maths and science etc... but aren't you forgetting something?

who taught us to stand up?
who taught us to say our first words?
who introduced us to this beautiful world?
who was the one who told us not to fear and run but face and fight?
who taught to to stand up one more time?
who taught us to smile & laugh?

Aren't these are equally important?

There are many more such important lessons that we learn during our lifetime from our loved ones and from our not-so-loved ones; from known ones & from unknown ones. They are more important that the lessons taught at school or college.

Every person has something that you can learn from him or her only if you are willing to learn. Even a child can teach you so many things. For eg., if you have noticed a child learning to walk... he falls so many times but he still stands up till he gets it right and can walk. We were that child once upon a time... what happened? Why do we give up we become adults?

I have held various positions in Rotaract... even headed the movement but at every stage with the entry of every new member or at meeting a new person I have learnt so many new things. Many of these are even helping me in my life!

It is said that life is a learning process. At every step you learn something. My Dad always said that 'Growth is the sign of life and stagnation is the sign of death'. So the minute we stop learning we are slowly moving towards stagnation.

HAPPY TEACHERS DAY TO MY FAMILY & FRIENDS & ACQUIANTANCES...
AND
HAPPY TEACHERS DAY TO LIFE... it is in this lifetime that I have met so many people who have spiced up my life and made it worth living... otherwise there are so many people who feel that life is not worth living & commit suicide (sacchi... read the papers!!! ;)

dus saal baad!

There are a few special days & dates that we never forget like a birthday or the first day of your first job or the anniversary (not just wedding)... well, there are many more special occasions... I think each of us will have our own dates & not everyone around will be able to relate to that special date except you & the few people involved with you.

The 27th of August 1997 is one such date for me... it was the beginning of a series of fun, frolic & friendship for me... These set of friends have continued for a decade!

It was the first time I along with this other girl from my class bunked a hindi lecture to attend a Rotaract Meeting... my first general body meeting in Room 3 GF at Mithibai College...

The initial idea was to just check if the meeting will be good & then get back to the lecture so both of us left our bags in the lecture room & went for the meeting without a paper or a pen. At the meeting we realised that we made a mistake by not getting our belongings but did not really have the guts to get up in the middle of the meeting & say that we would like to leave to get our bags so we sat there. We borrowed the pen & paper from the girl sitting behind us.

The meeting was the starting point for loads of events, friendships and beautiful experiences! Things that I will never forget (unless, God forbid, I get alzheimer's... just kidding!!)

Today its been tens years to that... its unbelievable that its been a decade and the girl whom I bunked the lecture with & the girl who lend us the stationery have become an inseparable part of my life... Not just them... there are many more who have added colours to the pages of my life!

KUDOS to all my friends who have accepted me & tolerated me for ten years & Kudos to us!

Today WE celebrate ten years of sharing & caring!
